Nelson and Lisa Monteiro are based in Joao Pessoa, northeastern Brazil and have been serving as missionaries there since 2011. They developed Institute One27, a local church initiative that trains young Brazilians to be servant-leaders, impacting society with God's truth, love, and justice and bringing Kingdom transformation to Brazil and to the nations. The Institute runs a School of Training and Mentorship (ETEM) and has a variety of outreach projects in the needy community of Vila Feliz. Nelson also is the facilitator for two global movements, The Disciple Nations Alliance (DNA) Brazil and Church and Community Based Higher Education (CaCHE). DNA is a global network of evangelical churches and organizations. It exists to help the church rise to her full potential as God's principal agent in restoring, healing and blessing broken nations. This purpose is accomplished by equipping God's people in local churches to be agents of transformation in society. CaCHE's mission is to make high-quality discipleship-driven college education based on a Christian worldview available to young people around the globe. Both Cache and DNA provide valuable input into Institute One27. To learn more about Institute One27 and the work of Nelson and Lisa, please contact them.
We believe when people engage in service, it leads to life change. Our short-term trips provide opportunities for people to serve together in various locations around the world. Our belief is that as people chose to serve, whether in one of our churches, in the local community, or around the world, the impact of that service will change lives—for those serving, for the people they serve, and even for those that see them choosing to give their time to help someone else.
For those of you who have not gotten involved, we hope this will be the year you choose to begin a lifestyle of service. And to those who are serving, we just want to say thank you. You are the reason the mission is being accomplished.
