The Dream Center, founded in 1994, has a mission of reconnecting isolated people to God and a community of support by providing human services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, education, and human trafficking. Working to meet people where they are at and bringing them hope and a way off the streets the Dream Center accomplishes their mission through their mobile hunger relief and medical programs, residential rehabilitation programs, a shelter for victims of human trafficking, transitional housing for homeless families, foster care intervention programs, job skills training, life skills, counseling, basic education, Bible studies and more. The Father's House has partnered with Pastor Matthew Barnett over the years for our own "We Love Our City" week.
We will be taking a team that has a desire for reconnecting people to God by working on the dirty streets of a city dedicated to angels but taken by evil; streets covered by tents and cardboard boxes; streets walked on by runaway teens and young prostitutes; streets used as playgrounds for abused children trying to survive in crack houses and shelters. Our Encounter students will have the amazing opportunity to serve the poor, homeless and more at the Los Angeles Dream Center. Some ministry events include walking the streets of Skid Row, local Adopt-a-Block, feeding the homeless and more.
We believe when people engage in service, it leads to life change. Our short-term trips provide opportunities for people to serve together in various locations around the world. Our belief is that as people chose to serve, whether in one of our churches, in the local community, or around the world, the impact of that service will change lives—for those serving, for the people they serve, and even for those that see them choosing to give their time to help someone else.
For those of you who have not gotten involved, we hope this will be the year you choose to begin a lifestyle of service. And to those who are serving, we just want to say thank you. You are the reason the mission is being accomplished.
