There are million victims of human trafficking each year in India, 78% of which are from the state of West Bangal, the area we will be ministering throughout. Along with Nepal, India now has anti-conversion laws with criminal codes that have contributed to the increased violence towards Christians and even recent deportations of missionaries in both countries. Poverty continues to plague the country with over 71% of the population living in rural parts of the country with severe public health and financial challenges.
We will partner with the Himalayan Ezra Institute and founder, Pastor Daniel to visit and minister to rural “underground” churches that have been planted and now pastored by local Ezra Himalayan graduates. While in these remote villages of the Darjeeling district, we will feed communities and provide school supplies to hundreds of children in need. We will partner physically and spiritually with the native leaders and locals of these churches and villages.
We believe when people engage in service, it leads to life change. Our short-term trips provide opportunities for people to serve together in various locations around the world. Our belief is that as people chose to serve, whether in one of our churches, in the local community, or around the world, the impact of that service will change lives—for those serving, for the people they serve, and even for those that see them choosing to give their time to help someone else.
For those of you who have not gotten involved, we hope this will be the year you choose to begin a lifestyle of service. And to those who are serving, we just want to say thank you. You are the reason the mission is being accomplished.
