Welcome to TFH

Pre-Marriage Mentoring

Congratulations on your engagement!

Great marriages don’t just happen! An important part of having a great marriage is preparation. TFH Pre-Marriage Mentoring is designed to help prepare engaged couples for strong, lasting marriages based on biblical principles.

Engaged couples will be paired with a group of other engaged couples and a trained mentor couple in a TFH Marriage Group setting for 8 mentoring sessions. A structured curriculum provides excellent preparation in areas key to a successful marriage: communication, conflict resolution, finances, love styles and intimacy. The curriculum we use is Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts (SYMBIS) by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott. The SYMBIS Assessment, an online tool that assesses a couple’s strengths and growth areas, is also used.

Mentors are not licensed counselors. They are Christian couples that have been married five years or more and demonstrate maturity in their relationship with God and wisdom in their marriage.

Prerequisites for Pre-Marriage Mentoring:

  1. Your wedding date is at least six months from the date of registration.
  2. One or both of you are regular attendees or members of one of our TFH campuses.
  3. As a couple, you are a man and a woman. If you would like information on why The Father’s House doesn’t perform same sex weddings, click on this link.

It is critical to begin mentoring at least six months before your wedding date. This ensures that if areas are discovered during the mentoring sessions that you or your fiancé need further work on, there will be plenty of time to do so apart from the last minute rush of wedding preparations.

If you do not meet these prerequisites, we recommend premarital counseling with one of the professional Christian counselors in our referral network. Each of these counselors specializes in premarital counseling.

If you meet the prerequisites, the next steps are as follows:

  1. The cost of pre-marriage mentoring is $99 (non-refundable), which includes all books, workbooks and the cost of the professional assessment. You will be required to pay online when you register.
  2. You will receive a confirmation email with additional details and instructions.
  3. Based on current demand, you may be placed on a waiting list. Being placed on the waiting list does not guarantee participation in the SYMBIS program. If your wedding date is moved up, you may not be eligible to participate.
  4. When a mentor couple and marriage group is available (no less than three to four months from your wedding), you’ll be given further instructions to complete the SYMBIS Assessment and given details about the marriage group your being placed in.
